RE: got rear-ended in Dallas, other driver had no insurance...
Since one reply mentioned paying the collision deductible, it’s worth comparing that with any uninsured-motorist property-damage coverage on the policy. Check each option’s deductible and limits; which one applies to thi...
RE: Best ways to snag insurance discounts in Alaska: driving record vs. bundling?
Yeah, Alaska insurers definitely play by their own rules. Here’s what’s worked (or not) for me over the years: - Clean record? Didn’t see much change until like 5 years out from my last ticket. Felt like forever. - Bund...
RE: Getting caught without car insurance in Iowa is no joke
That ziplock trick is underrated. I keep a few things stashed in the glove box too - old insurance cards, registration, even a tiny flashlight. Here’s what’s worked for me: - Paper copy in a plastic sleeve (less likely ...
RE: Cutting my car insurance bill in half - didn’t think it was possible here
Honestly, I get the annoyance with those trackers, but for weekend-only cars like your Mustang, have you looked into classic or collector car insurance? Sometimes they offer way lower rates with mileage caps and don’t re...
RE: If You Had To Switch Insurance In Kentucky, Who Would You Trust?
I get what you’re saying about paper being a solid backup, but honestly, I’ve had the opposite experience lately. Every time I’ve been pulled over or needed proof for a claim, showing the app worked just fine - even in s...
RE: Why California’s minimum car insurance might not be enough
Yeah, I’ve had a similar wake-up call after a fender bender a few years back. The “state minimums” look fine on paper, but once you see the actual costs of medical care or even a couple of cars involved, it’s clear they ...
RE: What happens if your rideshare app is between trips and you get into an accident?
- Gap coverage really does feel like one of those “necessary evils.” I’ve had it for years, too, and only needed it once - hailstorm, of all things, while I was parked between trips. Paid out, but yeah, it stings paying ...
RE: stuck between Geico and Progressive in NY, thoughts?
Stuck Between Geico and Progressive in NY, Thoughts? - Been through the Geico vs. Progressive shuffle a few times myself. Lived in Queens for years, now out on Long Island, and the rate swings are wild. Geico definitely...
RE: Hypothetical Car Accident: How Does PIP Insurance Actually Work?
Good points there. Couple quick things I'd add from experience: - PIP usually kicks in regardless of who's at fault, covering medical bills and sometimes lost wages. - But coverage limits vary a lot by state - definitel...
RE: is accident forgiveness really worth it in Ohio?
I've actually looked into this before, and here's my take: - Accident forgiveness helps your wallet long-term by preventing premium hikes, but you're right - it's not gonna save you from the immediate headache of repair...
RE: Can Military Folks Really Get Cheaper Insurance Rates?
You're definitely onto something here. From what I've seen over the years, it's rarely just about the car itself - there's a whole web of factors insurers look at, and some of them can seem pretty random at first glance....
RE: HOW DO YOU DECIDE ON THE RIGHT DEDUCTIBLE FOR YOUR INSURANCE?
Good points there, but honestly it comes down to a few key factors: - How much cash you have saved up for emergencies. If your savings are thin, lower deductibles make sense. - Your daily driving environment. Heavy traf...
RE: What Happens if You're Labeled a Risky Driver by Insurance Companies?
Good points overall, but I'd argue insurers aren't always as flexible as you're suggesting when it comes to manual reviews. In my experience: - Most major insurers rely heavily on automated systems because it's cost-eff...
RE: how bad would insurance spike after a DUI in Idaho?
Yeah, DUIs are definitely a different beast altogether. A buddy of mine here in Idaho got one about two years ago, and his insurance shot up by around 50-70% depending on the provider. A few things he learned along the w...
RE: just saw a story about a guy in Kansas whose car got totaled by hail, and turns out his insurance didn't cover it.
Exactly. Had comprehensive on my old Accord for years, never used it once. Dropped it to save cash, and literally two months later, a tree branch smashed the windshield during a storm...go figure. Still, repairs weren't ...
