Yeah, I get where you’re coming from. It’s easy to think you’re playing it safe with liability-only, especially if you’ve got a good driving record or an older car. But honestly, the “odds” can turn on you fast—twice in one year is rough. I had something similar happen a few years back: got rear-ended at a stoplight, then sideswiped in a parking lot a few months later. Neither was my fault, but dealing with the other drivers’ insurance was a headache and I ended up out of pocket for a rental both times.

Full coverage does sting when you see that monthly bill, but sometimes it’s just less hassle if something goes sideways. I guess it really comes down to how much risk you’re willing to carry and whether you’ve got the savings to cover those unexpected costs. There’s no perfect answer, but after my experience, I’m leaning toward paying a bit more for peace of mind... even if it means cutting back somewhere else.

Man, you nailed it with the “odds can turn on you fast” bit. It’s wild how you can go years without an issue and then suddenly it’s like your car’s a magnet for trouble. I always tell people, liability-only is like going out in the rain with an umbrella that only covers your head—sure, your hair’s dry, but your socks are soaked. Full coverage stings, but at least you’re not left holding the bag (or the rental bill) when someone else messes up. I’d rather skip a few fancy coffees than gamble with my wheels, honestly.

Cutting corners on insurance always sounds tempting until you’re stranded on the side of the highway with a busted bumper and a fat repair bill. Happened to me once—saved a few bucks for years, then one deer outta nowhere and boom, lesson learned. I’d rather budget tight elsewhere than risk my road trips getting derailed.

Yeah, I hear you. I’ve always tried to keep my insurance costs down, but every time I think about dropping coverage, I remember the time my neighbor’s car got sideswiped in a parking lot. No note, no witnesses—just a huge headache and a bill he couldn’t afford. Makes me wonder if saving a few bucks is ever really worth it when stuff like that happens out of nowhere. How do you decide what’s “enough” coverage?

Honestly, I wrestle with this too. Here’s how I try to keep it sane:

- Liability? Non-negotiable. I don’t want to lose my shirt if something goes sideways.
- Collision/comprehensive? If my car’s worth less than my phone, I skip it. Otherwise, I keep the deductible high to save a few bucks.
- Uninsured motorist? I keep it, just in case someone else is “saving money” by not having coverage…

It’s all about balancing what you can afford to lose vs. what you can’t. I’d rather cut back on streaming services than risk a giant repair bill, honestly.
