Cutting my car insurance bill in half—didn’t think it was possible here

I get what you mean about tempting fate. I bumped my deductible up a couple years ago to save cash, and wouldn’t you know it, a week later some kid on a bike clipped my mirror. Ended up just paying for the fix myself since it was under the deductible anyway. In hindsight, I still think it’s worth it—haven’t had a big claim yet, knock on wood. But yeah, every time I hear a weird noise in the driveway, I start doing the math in my head...

That’s exactly my dilemma. I raised my deductible too, but with my driving record, I’m always wondering if I’m just setting myself up for a bigger hit down the line. Have you ever thought about whether the savings are really worth it if you’re statistically more likely to file a claim? I keep running the numbers, but it’s tough to know where the tipping point is.
