Just found out something kinda weird... apparently, if you add a new driver to your car insurance—even if they're experienced and have no accidents—your premium can still spike quite a bit. Thought it was mostly about driving record, but seems age and location matter a ton too. Anyone else notice this?

Yeah, it's pretty annoying how much those factors weigh in. Honestly, I used to think the same—that your driving history was the main thing—but turns out insurers are playing a numbers game. Younger drivers, even if they're careful, statistically tend to be riskier, and certain zip codes apparently have higher claim rates. I was skeptical at first, but when my older brother moved back home temporarily and we added him to our policy (he's got a spotless record), our premium still jumped noticeably. We called around and found that some companies were way less harsh about it than others. Might be worth shopping around or even talking directly to your insurer—sometimes they'll adjust things if you push back a bit or threaten to switch. Can't hurt to try...
