I totally get where you’re coming from—those counter pitches can feel a bit dramatic. I usually do a quick checklist before renting: call my insurance, check if my credit card offers any rental coverage, and look for any weird exclusions (like “no SUVs” or “no out-of-state”). Once, I found out my policy didn’t cover loss of use fees, which some rental companies sneak in. It’s a pain to read all the fine print, but it’s saved me a headache or two down the road.
