Honestly, I’ve started keeping a log of every phone call and email with State Farm after they “forgot” my claim paperwork twice in one week. Felt like I was playing insurance whack-a-mole—send it, wait, nothing, send it again, still nothing… By the time they paid out, my car was practically vintage.

USAA does answer the phone, but man, you gotta have the patience of a saint to get a straight answer. I swear, half my time is spent explaining the same story to three different reps. And yeah, if you’ve got a couple dings on your record, it’s like they put your file at the bottom of the pile for fun.

At this point, I just load up a podcast and brace myself for hold music. I’d say USAA is slightly less of a headache, but only because they actually respond. Not exactly a ringing endorsement, but hey, small victories...

USAA’s “let me transfer you to the right department” game is wild. I swear, I’ve recited my VIN more times than my own phone number. With State Farm, it’s like sending paperwork into a black hole—do they have a secret paper-eating monster in the back office? At least with USAA, I get a human eventually, even if I have to explain my life story again. Has anyone ever actually gotten a claim handled in one call? Or is that just insurance folklore?

USAA VS STATE FARM: WHICH CLAIMS PROCESS IS LESS OF A HEADACHE?

- I’ve never had a claim go through in just one call, no matter who I’m with. It’s like the insurance unicorn—maybe it exists, but I’ve never seen it.
- USAA does answer faster, but yeah, they love their transfers. I keep my VIN on a sticky note now just to survive the process.
- State Farm...I swear they use fax machines and hope for the best. My paperwork disappeared twice before they finally found it. Makes you wonder if they have a paper shredder on a timer or something.
- I always take pics of everything and keep a written log of every call. Paranoid? Maybe, but after getting burned once, I’m not risking it.
- Neither is perfect, but at least USAA gives you a person eventually. State Farm’s “someone will call you back” is code for “start your own investigation.”
- I’d love to know if anyone’s ever had a painless claim. Until then, I’ll keep my glove box organized and my phone charged...just in case.

Keeping a log and snapping pics is just smart these days—learned that one the hard way too. I’ve noticed USAA at least tries to keep you in the loop, even if it means getting bounced around. State Farm’s “wait for a call” routine drove me nuts...felt like I was chasing ghosts half the time. Neither is perfect but being organized definitely helps cut down on the stress.

Yeah, keeping track of everything is a lifesaver. I’ve dealt with both companies and honestly, “wait for a call” is just code for “we’ll get to you when we feel like it.” At least USAA sends updates, even if they’re not always helpful. Staying organized is the only thing that kept me from losing it during my last claim...you’re right, neither one’s perfect but a paper trail makes all the difference.
