That’s a fair point about paper not being foolproof either—seen plenty of folks show up with old policy cards that don’t match what’s on file. And yeah, coffee disasters are real. From what I’ve seen, having both digital and paper copies is just practical, even if it feels like overkill. Some insurers do offer apps that keep docs stored locally, but honestly, not all of them work smoothly yet. Until tech catches up, it’s kind of a “belt and suspenders” situation… just in case.

Honestly, I’ve seen both sides of this play out. Had a client once who swore by his “indestructible” paper file—until his dog decided it was a chew toy. On the flip side, I’ve watched folks scramble when their phone died right as they needed to pull up their policy info. I get the “belt and suspenders” approach, even if it feels a bit much. Until those apps get more reliable (and pets stop eating paperwork), having both isn’t the worst idea.

Honestly, I lean toward that too. What’s the backup plan if your phone’s dead and your paper file’s missing? I’ve seen claims delayed just because someone couldn’t access a key document. Maybe it’s less about which is better and more about what fails least often. Anyone else ever had a scanner app glitch out right when you needed it?

That’s exactly it. I’ve had clients swear by digital until their phone died mid-claim, then suddenly paper looked pretty good. Redundancy isn’t overkill—it’s just practical. Tech’s great, but Murphy’s Law always finds a way.

I get the logic, but honestly, keeping track of both paper and digital just adds clutter for me. I’d rather risk a dead phone than dig through a glovebox stuffed with forms. Less is more, especially when you’re juggling family stuff.
