I’m with you on the backup thing—learned the hard way when I lost a stack of receipts during a cross-country trip. Now I snap pics of everything, just in case. Digital’s quicker, but I never fully trust it alone... too many “what ifs.”

Honestly, I get the hesitation with digital-only. I’ve seen folks lose stuff to a dead phone or a corrupted file more than once. But paper gets lost or damaged just as easily—coffee spills, anyone? I keep both when I can, but if I had to pick, digital’s faster for claims. Just make sure you’ve got backups somewhere safe, like cloud storage. It’s not perfect, but it beats digging through a glove box full of faded receipts.

I get where you’re coming from—there’s always that nagging worry about losing digital stuff if your phone dies or you accidentally delete something. But honestly, paper’s never felt that secure to me either. I’ve had receipts fade so much they’re basically blank, and once I left a stack of claim docs in my car and the sun just baked them into unreadable mush. At least with digital, if you use a decent cloud service and maybe even email yourself copies, it’s way easier to recover.

One thing I like about digital is how fast you can search for stuff. No more rifling through piles of random papers hoping you didn’t toss the one thing you need. Plus, some insurance apps let you snap photos right after an accident or incident—that’s saved me a couple times when I was frazzled and would’ve forgotten details by the time I got home.

That said, I still keep a few key docs printed out in my glove box... just in case tech fails at the worst possible moment. But if I had to pick? Digital wins for speed and convenience, hands down.

Totally get this. I used to be all about keeping a folder in my glove box with every possible doc—insurance, registration, roadside assistance, you name it. But after one summer road trip through Arizona, I came back to find half the stuff basically glued together from the heat. The ink had bled so bad I couldn’t even read my own name. That was a wake-up call.

Now I’m way more into digital, especially since I’m always on the move. I’ve got everything backed up to Google Drive and I even keep screenshots in a locked album on my phone. There was one time I got rear-ended in a tiny town in Utah, and the other driver was super stressed. I just pulled up my insurance info on my phone and snapped pics of everything right there. Made the whole process way less chaotic.

But I do get a little nervous about tech failing at the worst moment. Like, what if I’m out of service or my phone’s dead? That’s why I still keep a paper copy of my insurance card tucked away, just in case. It’s probably a little overkill, but after that Arizona meltdown, I’m not taking chances.

Honestly, I think digital’s the way to go for most stuff, especially when you’re traveling. Searching for docs is a breeze, and you don’t have to worry about losing stuff to spilled coffee or a leaky cooler (been there). Still, having a backup never hurts. Guess I’m just not ready to trust 100% in either direction yet.

I hear you on the heat—Arizona summers are brutal on paper. I do the same thing: digital first, but a paper backup tucked under the spare tire just in case. One thing I’m curious about, though—has anyone actually had a cop or insurance rep refuse a digital copy? I’ve always wondered if there are places that still insist on paper.
