Digital’s faster, sure, but I’ve found it can be a double-edged sword. With paper, at least you can see everything laid out in front of you—no clicking around different screens or wondering if that attachment actually went through. I’ve had a couple close calls where I uploaded the wrong form and only caught it because the system didn’t accept the file type. Not every company’s portal is foolproof, either... sometimes they’ll let you submit with stuff missing and you won’t even realize until days later when someone finally reviews it.
I get the appeal of no stamps, but there’s something to be said for having a physical checklist and copies you can stick in a folder. If you’re worried about missing signatures or sending the wrong doc, maybe fill out everything on paper first, then scan and upload? That way you’ve got a backup if the digital stuff goes sideways. Just my two cents—maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I trust what I can hold in my hands a bit more.
I totally get what you mean about wanting something you can actually hold. I just went through my first claim and honestly, the digital portal made me nervous—kept double-checking if I’d attached the right stuff or missed a signature. Ended up printing everything out anyway, just to be sure. It’s weird, but having that paper backup felt like a safety net. Maybe it’s just a trust thing... tech glitches freak me out more than losing a piece of paper.

Totally relate to that. I’ve had my fair share of claims (don’t ask), and once the portal glitched out on me mid-upload—lost everything. Had to start over. Ever tried calling support during rush hour? Nightmare. Do you think insurance companies actually prefer digital, or is it just cheaper for them?

That’s exactly what worries me with digital-only systems. I get that it’s probably cheaper for them, but I wonder if they really consider how stressful it is for customers when tech fails. I always keep a hard copy, just in case. Has anyone actually had a claim go smoother with paper, or is it just nostalgia making us think it was easier?
Honestly, I get nervous every time I have to upload something important online. Last semester, I tried submitting a form for my parking permit and the site crashed halfway through. Had to redo the whole thing, and I was paranoid I’d miss the deadline. With paper, at least you know it’s in someone’s hands. Maybe it’s not faster, but it feels more real, you know? Digital’s convenient until it isn’t...
