I've dealt with both companies over the years and honestly, it really does depend on your local agent. Accident forgiveness sounds great on paper, but have you checked how much your rates jump after using it? Sometimes companies offset those perks with higher base premiums later on. Also, have you looked into how each company handles minor claims—like windshield replacements or small parking lot dings? Those little things can add up surprisingly fast...

Totally agree about the local agent thing—makes a huge difference. A few years back, I had a minor fender-bender in my Audi (nothing major, just a scrape in a parking lot). My agent at State Farm was super helpful, walked me through everything, and the claim was handled smoothly. But then, when renewal time came around, my premium jumped noticeably. I asked about it, and they mentioned something about "adjustments based on recent claims," even though it was my first one in years.

On the flip side, my brother-in-law swears by Farm Bureau. He had a windshield replaced on his BMW last summer, and they didn't even blink—no rate hike, no hassle. He said the whole process was surprisingly painless. So yeah, definitely worth checking how each company handles those smaller claims. Sometimes the little things really do make the biggest difference...

I'm actually in the middle of deciding between these two myself, so this thread is super helpful. First-time insurance buyer here, and honestly, it's a bit overwhelming trying to figure out what's worth paying extra for and what's just marketing fluff.

"On the flip side, my brother-in-law swears by Farm Bureau. He had a windshield replaced on his BMW last summer, and they didn't even blink—no rate hike, no hassle."

This caught my eye because I've heard similar stories from friends about Farm Bureau being pretty chill with minor claims. From what I've gathered (and correct me if I'm wrong), some companies seem to penalize you more for small stuff than others. Like, your Audi scrape story with State Farm sounds exactly like what I'm worried about—getting dinged for something minor after years of clean driving.

I did some digging around online reviews too, and it seems like Farm Bureau generally gets praised for customer service and not jacking up rates after minor incidents. State Farm has a solid rep overall, but I keep seeing people mention rate hikes after claims—even small ones—which makes me hesitate.

I guess it comes down to priorities...do you want the security of knowing your premium won't spike after every little thing, or are you okay with potentially paying a bit more for the convenience of having a local agent who's really hands-on? For me personally, as someone new to this whole insurance thing (and admittedly kinda paranoid about hidden fees), I'm leaning slightly toward Farm Bureau right now.

But hey, still open to hearing more experiences before I pull the trigger.

Farm Bureau does tend to be pretty forgiving with minor stuff like windshields or small scrapes, at least from what I've seen. State Farm isn't bad, but yeah, they can get a bit jumpy on rates after claims—even tiny ones. I'd probably lean Farm Bureau myself.

I'm new to all this insurance stuff, but does Farm Bureau usually have decent customer service? I mean, forgiving small claims sounds great, but how easy are they to actually deal with if something bigger happens...?
