I’ve run into that same glass coverage confusion before—thought I was covered for everything, but nope, windshield was a separate deal. It’s wild how much is buried in the fine print. I always get at least three quotes now and actually read through the policy details, even if it takes forever. Sometimes the “decent” quote isn’t so decent once you see what’s missing. Not worth the risk, especially with kids in the car and all the random stuff that can happen.

SHOP AROUND OR STICK WITH THE FIRST DECENT QUOTE?

That “decent” quote is usually just the bait to get you hooked, then you find out about all the stuff that’s not covered once you actually need it. Learned that one the hard way—hailstorm took out my back window and apparently my “comprehensive” didn’t mean what I thought it did. Had to shell out way more than expected.

I’m with you, it’s a pain to dig through those policies, but missing something small can cost you big time. Especially if you’ve got kids riding along—last thing you want is some freak accident and then realizing your so-called coverage is full of holes. I never trust the first quote anymore. Takes longer, sure, but at least I know what I’m getting into. Peace of mind’s worth a couple extra hours reading fine print, in my book.

Can’t count the number of times I thought I’d scored a “deal” on insurance, only to find out later my old Mustang wasn’t as protected as I thought. The devil’s always in those details… and classic car policies are a whole different beast. I get wanting to just grab the first decent quote and be done, but after getting burned once, I’d rather spend a boring afternoon reading fine print than risk it. Sometimes that cheap quote costs you way more down the road—learned that with my windshield debacle last year.

Totally get where you’re coming from. I’ve been tempted by those “too good to be true” quotes myself, but after a fender bender a few years back, I learned the hard way that coverage gaps can sneak up on you. It’s tedious, but reading through the policy details really does pay off. Sometimes the peace of mind is worth the extra time and maybe even a few extra bucks.

I hear you on the fine print—learned that lesson after my car got dinged in a parking lot and my “great deal” policy barely covered anything. I’ve started making spreadsheets to compare what’s actually included, not just the price. Out of curiosity, has anyone found a company that actually makes their policy details easy to understand? Or is it always a slog?
