I get where you’re coming from, but here’s how I look at it: 1) Every year, I check at least three quotes—takes maybe 30 minutes. 2) If my current insurer’s within $50 of the cheapest, I stay put. 3) If not, I switch, no hesitation. Had a claim once, and honestly, the “loyalty” thing didn’t make a difference for me. I’d rather keep my cash than hope for special treatment. Just my two cents.

I hear you on the loyalty thing not mattering much—had a similar experience when my ‘72 Chevelle got rear-ended. Years with the same insurer, but when it came time to file a claim, they treated me like any other number in the system. That said, I’m a bit more cautious these days. I’ll shop around, but I also dig into the fine print—some of those cheaper quotes sneak in weird exclusions or low payout limits, especially for older cars. Saving $50 isn’t worth it if they lowball you when it counts, you know?

Totally get where you're coming from—loyalty doesn’t always pay off in the insurance world. It’s wild how you can stick with a company for years, but when you actually need them, it’s just business as usual for them. I always tell folks not to fall for the lowest quote right away. Sometimes that bargain policy only looks good until you see what’s actually covered... especially for classics or older rides. Those “actual cash value” clauses can really sting if your car’s got sentimental or collector value. Always worth double-checking those details before signing anything.

Honestly, I get what you mean about not jumping at the lowest quote, but sometimes you just gotta go with what you can afford. Not everyone’s driving a classic or cares about “actual cash value” stuff. For my old beater, cheap is fine—if it gets totaled, I’m not crying over it. Just saying, sometimes the bargain policy is all you need.

- Totally get where you’re coming from. For our family van, I’m not worried about “actual cash value”—it’s just gotta get us from A to B and not break the bank.
- I do check a few quotes, though, just in case there’s a big difference for the same coverage. Sometimes the cheapest one has weird exclusions or higher deductibles buried in the fine print.
- Anyone ever had a bargain policy actually come through when you needed it? Or did it end up being more hassle than it was worth?
