"It mostly flagged hard braking and late-night driving, stuff I could manage without totally killing the fun."

Did you notice if the tracker affected your overall driving habits long-term, or was it just temporary while you had it installed? I've heard some insurers offer discounts even after you remove the device if your driving improved during the tracking period. Could be a decent compromise—get the savings without feeling like you're always being watched. Anyone else seen that kind of lasting benefit?

Had something similar a while back—honestly, it did make me a bit more mindful about braking distances even after I took it out. Didn't turn me into grandma behind the wheel, but I'd say some habits stuck around longer than expected.

Had a similar experience when I first started driving—had one of those telematics boxes to cut down insurance costs. Honestly, it was annoying at first, but it did make me way more aware of my speed and braking habits. Even now, months after ditching the box, I still catch myself easing off the gas earlier than I used to... guess some habits really do stick around longer than you'd think.

Same here—I drive a pretty powerful car now but still find myself braking gently and cruising slower. Guess those boxes do drill good habits into you... annoying at first, but useful long-term.

Funny you mention that—I ditched my black box a year ago, and I still drive like my grandma's watching from the back seat. 😂 Honestly though, it's kinda surprising how quickly those habits stick. Back when I first got it installed, I was annoyed at having to drive so carefully everywhere (felt like being babysat), but now I'm weirdly grateful for it. My fuel economy improved noticeably, brakes last way longer... and let's face it, fewer close calls on roundabouts!

Still, I admit there are days when the open road tempts me to push it a bit more—especially if I'm running late—but then that little voice in my head kicks in reminding me about insurance premiums and petrol prices. Guess those boxes really do train your subconscious wallet-awareness too...
