That period 1 gap is brutal, no doubt. I’ve looked into it a few times and honestly, personal insurance just doesn’t want to touch anything once you’ve got the app on—even if you’re not actually driving anyone yet. It’s like they’re waiting for any excuse to deny a claim. I tried arguing my case once, thinking maybe they’d make an exception since I was just sitting in a parking lot, but nope... they stuck to their script.

The rideshare policies aren’t much better. The deductibles are sky-high and the coverage is bare minimum unless you’re actively on a trip. It’s frustrating because most drivers don’t realize how exposed they are until something goes wrong.

You’re not alone in feeling burned by this. It’s a mess, and honestly, it feels like the system is set up to catch people off guard. Only advice I can give is to keep pushing your insurance agent for clear answers—sometimes you get lucky and find someone who’ll actually explain things straight. But yeah, it’s a headache all around.
