You bring up a good point about delays being partly our own doing. As someone still learning all this, it's pretty eye-opening to realize how easily we could overlook something important right after an accident. It makes me wonder... maybe insurance companies could do a better job educating drivers on the importance of immediate documentation? Anyway, thanks for sharing your perspective—it definitely gives me something to think about as a newer driver.

Yeah, I think you're onto something there. Insurance companies tend to bury that kind of info in dense paperwork or quick online modules most people skim through. Honestly, after my first minor fender-bender, I was so rattled I almost forgot to take pictures of the damage and exchange info. Luckily, my dad had drilled it into me beforehand. Clear, practical reminders from insurers would probably help reduce confusion and stress in those moments...

Insurance companies could definitely step up their game here. But honestly, it's not just about insurers—drivers gotta take some responsibility too. When I had my classic Mustang rear-ended, I was so ticked off I almost forgot to snap pics. Now I keep a basic checklist in the glovebox: photos, license plates, insurance cards, done. Simple reminders like that save headaches later...

True, but honestly, even with checklists and photos, things don't always go smoothly. A couple years back, I got sideswiped at an intersection—did everything right, took pictures, exchanged info—but the other driver still tried claiming it was my fault. Insurance dragged their feet for weeks. I'm skeptical about how much responsibility drivers can realistically shoulder when insurers often make the process overly complicated. Maybe clearer guidelines from insurance companies would help more than just relying on us drivers to stay calm under pressure...

Yeah, I get your skepticism. Had a similar headache myself last summer—someone rear-ended my car at a stoplight. Followed every step carefully, documented everything, but still spent weeks chasing down insurance reps.

"Insurance dragged their feet for weeks."
Exactly my experience... clearer guidelines would definitely ease the stress.
