"My advice: save claims for the big stuff. If it's minor and you can afford to handle it yourself, do it."

That's been my experience too—small claims just aren't worth the hassle. Curious though, has anyone noticed if switching insurers resets your "high-risk" status, or does it follow you around?

Switching insurers can help a bit, but from what I've seen, your claim history still tags along behind the scenes. It's like a shadow—hard to shake completely. But don't stress too much; if you're careful and keep minor stuff off the record, your rates usually level out over time. I learned that the hard way after filing a tiny claim years ago... lesson definitely learned.

True, your history does linger a bit, but honestly, I've switched insurers after a claim and saw a noticeable drop. It depends a lot on the insurer—some are more forgiving. Shop around, you'd be surprised at the difference sometimes...

Yeah, I've heard that advice before, but honestly I've had mixed results. A couple years back, I had a minor fender-bender—not even my fault—and I figured my rates wouldn't budge much. Wrong. My insurer hiked the premium pretty noticeably, so I did exactly that—shopped around. Weirdly enough, some quotes came in even higher than my current insurer's renewal. Eventually found one slightly cheaper, but nothing dramatic.

Seems like insurers have their own mysterious algorithms or something... Maybe it depends on the specifics of the claim or even your zip code? I'm still skeptical about how much switching really helps, but I guess it doesn't hurt to check every now and then. At least now I know not to assume anything about insurance companies being logical or consistent, lol.

Yeah, insurers definitely have their own weird logic... Ever wonder if they factor in stuff like local accident stats or even how busy your street is? I swear my premiums jumped after a new coffee place opened nearby. Coincidence...? Hmm.
