Actually, from what I've seen, the car model and your annual mileage can sometimes outweigh location. My brother moved downtown but switched to a less sporty car and his rates dropped slightlyβ€”even with the new zip code. Might wanna check into that angle too...

Yeah, car type can definitely swing rates more than people think. A sporty coupe usually means higher claims frequency and repair costs. Mileage factors in tooβ€”fewer miles, less risk exposure. Worth checking those specifics closely...

Totally makes sense. When I switched from my old hatchback to a sedan, my rates dropped noticeably too, even though I moved closer to the city center. I was worried the zip code would spike it, but turns out the car type mattered more. Guess insurers see sporty cars as magnets for troubleβ€”speeding tickets, accidents, you name it. Plus, repairs on those sleek coupes can be pricey.

Mileage definitely plays a role too. My commute shrank from 30 miles each way down to about 10, and that helped lower my premium even more. It's funny how these little details add up... Glad your brother's seeing some savings despite moving downtown; that's always a nice surprise.

Yeah, car type and mileage are biggies, but don't overlook your credit score either. I learned this the hard wayβ€”had a minor dip in my credit after refinancing my house, and suddenly my premiums jumped. Called the insurer, and they straight-up told me credit history is a factor. Weird, right? Anyway, got my score back up, and sure enough, rates dropped again. Just another sneaky detail insurers use to size you up...

Didn't realize credit mattered that much for car insurance... wonder if switching insurers after your score improves gets you better deals, or if loyalty discounts outweigh that? Seems like a balancing act.
