I'm renewing my car insurance soon and noticed there's an option to add glass repair coverage. It's not super expensive, but I'm wondering if it's actually worth it or just another upsell. I mean, I've had a windshield crack once before, and paying out of pocket wasn't fun, but it wasn't the end of the world either. Do you guys usually add this coverage or just risk it and pay yourself if something happens?
I've always added it myself, mostly because I do a ton of road trips and windshield chips seem to find me pretty regularly. A few years back, I skipped it thinking I'd save a few bucks... then got hit with two cracks in one summer. Paying out of pocket wasn't terrible, but it was annoying enough that now I just check the box for peace of mind. If it's not too pricey, might be worth it just to avoid the hassle next time around.
