is accident forgiveness really worth it in Ohio?

I get the hesitation, but honestly, accident forgiveness always felt like paying extra for something you might never use—kinda like extended warranties. I've driven in Ohio winters for over 20 years, had my share of slips and slides, but never an actual accident (knock on wood...). Maybe stash that extra cash into better tires or a defensive driving course instead? Could save you more in the long run and actually help avoid accidents altogether. Just my two cents.

Totally agree with this. I've been driving our family SUV around Cleveland suburbs for years, and honestly, investing in quality all-season tires made a huge difference. Accident forgiveness sounds reassuring, but it's reactive rather than proactive. I'd rather spend money upfront on something that'll actually help me avoid trouble altogether...especially with how unpredictable Ohio winters can get.

I'm actually shopping around for my first policy right now, and I was tempted by accident forgiveness at first. But honestly, after sliding around on some sketchy roads last winter, I'm leaning toward better tires too... prevention beats forgiveness any day.

Accident forgiveness sounds good on paper, but I feel like it's mostly marketing hype. A few years ago, I drove through Ohio in winter—those roads are no joke. Even with accident forgiveness, wouldn't you still be stuck dealing with repairs, deductibles, and all that hassle? Better tires seem like a smarter investment overall. Curious though... has anyone actually used accident forgiveness after a winter incident, and did it really save you much in the end?

That's a fair point, but accident forgiveness isn't really meant to eliminate the immediate hassle of repairs or deductibles. It's more about protecting your premium from skyrocketing after an accident. Think of it as a safety net for your insurance rates rather than a quick fix for the inconvenience of repairs.

A few winters ago, one of my clients slid into a guardrail near Cleveland—icy roads, typical Ohio winter stuff. They still had to deal with the deductible and getting their car fixed, but accident forgiveness kept their premiums steady afterward. Without it, their rates would've jumped significantly for several years, costing them way more in the long run.

Better tires are definitely a smart move, though—prevention beats dealing with an accident any day. I'm curious, has anyone here compared the long-term savings of accident forgiveness versus investing in premium winter tires?
