- Had accident forgiveness for a couple years myself, mostly because my commute was pretty long and through some sketchy back roads.
- Honestly though, never ended up using it. Felt like I was paying extra for something I never got to benefit from.
- But then again, last winter my wife slid into a mailbox—nothing major, just enough to dent the bumper—and our premium jumped noticeably at renewal. Made me rethink dropping it.
- Curious if anyone's done the math on this? Like, how much extra do you typically pay per year vs. how much your premium actually increases after one minor accident?
- Seems like it could be worth it if you're accident-prone or driving a ton in unpredictable conditions, but otherwise maybe not so much...

I've been commuting daily for years, and honestly, I've always been skeptical about accident forgiveness. It feels a bit like paying extra for peace of mind rather than actual coverage. A few years back, I had a minor fender-bender—nothing serious, just a cracked headlight—and my premium did go up, but not drastically. Makes me wonder if setting aside that extra money each month into savings might be smarter in the long run...

Yeah, I get where you're coming from. I've been commuting around Ohio for ages, and honestly, accident forgiveness always felt more like marketing than real value. Had a similar minor scrape a while back—my premium bumped up a bit, but nothing wallet-breaking. Setting aside that extra cash yourself might actually be the smarter move, especially if you're generally a cautious driver. Seems like you're already thinking along the right lines...

I've always been skeptical about accident forgiveness too—seems like just another way insurers pad their profits. But then again, one unlucky fender-bender in winter traffic and you might rethink skipping it...depends how much you trust your luck I guess.

I used to think accident forgiveness was just another gimmick too, until last winter when I slid into a mailbox on an icy backroad near Akron. Wasn't even going fast, just hit a patch of black ice and bam—there goes my clean record. My rates jumped enough afterward that I wished I'd had it. Not saying it's always worth it, but Ohio winters can be brutal...sometimes peace of mind is worth the extra few bucks.
