is accident forgiveness really worth it in Ohio?

I get your point about Ohio winters—definitely not fun sliding around out there. But honestly, accident forgiveness isn't always the best deal for everyone. I looked into it myself last year, and it turned out adding that perk bumped my premium up quite a bit right from the start. If you're usually careful and haven't had any incidents in years, it might make more sense to stash away that extra cash instead. Just something to think about...

That's a fair point, but from my experience, even the most cautious drivers can get caught off guard—especially in Ohio winters. A client of mine had a spotless record for over a decade, then one icy morning, slid right into a parked car. Accident forgiveness saved him from a hefty premium hike afterward. It's not always the cheapest option upfront, but sometimes the peace of mind is worth it...

I get the appeal of accident forgiveness, especially with Ohio winters being as unpredictable as they are. But honestly, I've always felt it's a bit of a gamble. Sure, your client benefited from it, but how many years did he pay extra before that one incident happened? If he'd set aside that extra premium each month into a rainy-day fund, maybe he'd have had enough to cover the premium hike anyway.

True enough, but as someone who drives a classic car and is pretty cautious about risk, I prefer to manage my own savings rather than pay extra for something I might never use. Insurance companies aren't charities—they've done the math, and they're betting you'll pay more in premiums than they'll ever pay out. I'd rather keep control of that money myself and take my chances. Just my two cents...

I totally get your point about managing your own savings instead of paying extra premiums. Honestly, I used to think the same way until last winter when I slid right into a mailbox—yeah, embarrassing, I know. My rates shot up like crazy afterward. Now I'm thinking accident forgiveness might've saved me some headaches. Still skeptical about insurance math, but like you said:

Guess it's all about how much risk you're comfortable with...

I was skeptical too, until I backed my Audi into a snowbank last February. Nothing major, but my premium still jumped noticeably. Accident forgiveness might've softened the blow... still debating if it's worth the extra cost though.
