I get where you’re coming from, but I actually went the other way after my cousin’s fender bender last year. She was a super careful driver, never had an accident in 15 years, and then—bam—someone rear-ended her at a stoplight. Her insurance rates shot up, and she kept saying she wished she’d paid for accident forgiveness. I used to think it was a waste too, but after seeing that, I figured it’s not just about your own driving. Sometimes it’s the other folks you’ve gotta watch out for, especially with Ohio winters. Still, I get that it feels like paying for something you might never use... but sometimes that peace of mind is worth it.

Man, I totally get that. I’ve had a couple tickets and a not-so-great winter slide myself, so I’m always on edge about my rates. It’s wild how one thing outta your control can mess up your record. Peace of mind sounds pretty good, honestly.

You nailed it with that. It’s honestly frustrating how a single icy patch or someone else’s mistake can jack up your rates for years. I’ve seen folks with spotless records get hit hard after one fender bender, and it just doesn’t feel fair. Accident forgiveness isn’t always cheap, but in Ohio, where weather can be unpredictable and drivers even more so, it can save you a ton of stress.

I get that some people think it’s just another way for companies to squeeze a few extra bucks out of you, but if you’ve already had a couple tickets and a slide, you’re probably in the “it could happen again” camp. I’ve had clients who were super relieved they had it after a minor mishap—kept their rates steady and let them breathe easy.

It’s not for everyone, but if you’re already feeling on edge about your record, that peace of mind is worth considering. Sometimes paying a little more upfront saves you a lot down the road... especially when Ohio roads do their thing in January.

That’s the truth. I’ve lived here long enough to know you can be the safest driver and still end up in a ditch thanks to black ice or someone else sliding through a stop sign. I get the hesitation about paying extra, but honestly, that “peace of mind” is real. Rates can jump way more than the cost of forgiveness if you get unlucky. It’s not perfect, but it’s helped me sleep better during those rough winters.

Couldn’t agree more—those Ohio winters are brutal, and you never know what’ll happen, no matter how careful you are. I used to be skeptical about accident forgiveness, but after watching my friend’s premiums skyrocket after a minor fender bender (that wasn’t even entirely his fault), I started seeing the value in it. The peace of mind is definitely worth a few extra bucks a month, especially if you’re logging a lot of miles.

I get that it feels like you’re paying for “what ifs,” but with all the unpredictability out there—ice, potholes, random deer—it’s less about if and more about when. I’d rather pay a little now than a ton later. Still, I know folks who’ve never needed it and think it’s pointless, so maybe it depends on your luck... or your route!
