"Sometimes these 'extras' seem great at first glance, but when you really look into them, they're not always worth the cost."

Couldn't agree more. I commute daily through Columbus traffic, and I've had my fair share of close calls—but even then, accident forgiveness never seemed like a good deal. When my agent pitched it, I did the math and realized I'd basically be paying upfront for an accident I might never have. It's like buying extended warranties on electronics—sounds reassuring until you realize you're mostly paying for peace of mind you'll probably never use.

Still, I get why some people might opt in. If you've got teenagers driving or a history of fender-benders, maybe it's worth it just to sleep better at night. But for most careful drivers out there... seems like another way insurance companies pad their profits.

I'm curious though—has anyone actually used their accident forgiveness and felt it saved them money in the long run?

I see your point, but honestly, accident forgiveness saved me big time last year. I'm usually careful, but one icy morning near Cleveland, I slid into another car at a stoplight—minor damage, thankfully. Without accident forgiveness, my premiums would've jumped significantly. Sure, it's paying for something you might never use, but when you do need it... it really softens the blow financially. Guess it depends on your comfort level with risk.

Yeah, that's my dilemma exactly. First-time buyer here, and I'm watching every penny. Accident forgiveness sounds nice, but I'm still debating if it's worth stretching my budget for a "just in case" scenario... decisions, decisions.

Had accident forgiveness on my last policy and ended up using it after a minor fender-bender. Honestly, it saved me from a nasty premium hike. If your budget's tight though, maybe check if your insurer offers it as an add-on later?

Had accident forgiveness on my policy for a couple years, never thought I'd need it... until someone backed into my parked Audi at a coffee shop. Damage wasn't huge, but luxury car repairs add up fast. Honestly, having that forgiveness saved me from a pretty steep premium jump. If you're driving something higher-end or newer, I'd say it's definitely worth considering. But yeah, if money's tight, maybe wait and see if your insurer lets you tack it on later—some do, some don't. Either way, it's one of those things you don't appreciate until you actually need it.
