is accident forgiveness really worth it in Ohio?

I had accident forgiveness on my Audi a few years back here in Ohio, and honestly, it was kind of a mixed bag. Sure, it saved me from an immediate rate hike after a minor fender-bender downtown, but when I switched insurers two years later, that accident definitely came up again. Didn't spike my rates dramatically, but it wasn't exactly ignored either. So yeah, helpful short-term, but don't expect insurers to have total amnesia down the road...

Yeah, I hear you on that mixed bag feeling. I've had accident forgiveness myself (trust me, needed it more than once...), and while it definitely saved my butt short-term, insurers always seem to have a long memory. Still, I'd say it's worth it overall—especially if you're prone to minor mishaps like me. Sure, they won't totally forget your slip-ups, but at least you dodge that immediate sting of a rate hike. Better than nothing, right?

I've had accident forgiveness here in Ohio for a while now, and honestly, it's been a bit of a toss-up. On one hand, yeah, it saved me from that immediate spike after a fender-bender a couple years back. But insurers definitely keep tabs—when renewal time rolled around, my rates still crept up a bit. I'd say if you're generally careful but have the occasional slip-up, it's probably worth it. Just don't expect it to be a total free pass forever...

I've wondered about this myself. A few years back, my cousin had accident forgiveness—thought he was golden after a minor scrape at the grocery store. Sure enough, no immediate hike, but come renewal time, bam... slight bump anyway. Makes me think insurers have long memories, lol. Maybe it's worth it for peace of mind, but seems like you're still paying eventually, just spread out more sneakily. Guess there's no free lunch with insurance companies, huh?

True, insurers aren't charities, but I'd argue accident forgiveness can still be worth it depending on your ride. When I dinged my Audi last year (nothing major, just a fender bender), the forgiveness saved me from a hefty immediate spike. Renewal did creep up slightly, but comparing notes with friends who didn't have it, I came out ahead overall. It's basically risk management—upfront peace of mind vs potential wallet hit later...
