I get what you’re saying about paperwork, but I’ve heard mixed things about how “streamlined” it really is if you actually have to file a claim. Has anyone here had to deal with Geico or Progressive after an accident in NY? Curious if one felt more responsive or less of a hassle in practice.
Had a fender bender in Brooklyn last year—Geico was... fine, I guess? The app made it seem like everything would be super quick, but I still had to call and wait on hold a couple times. Adjuster was polite but not exactly speedy. My neighbor swears by Progressive, but honestly, I think both are about the same once you’re actually in the weeds. Streamlined is a strong word for any insurance company, if you ask me.
- Been there, done that—Brooklyn traffic is basically a demolition derby sometimes.
- Geico’s app looks slick, but yeah, you still end up on hold listening to elevator music.
- Progressive gave me a quote that was somehow higher than my rent, so I stuck with Geico. Not sure either is “streamlined” unless you count the way your patience gets tested.
- Anyone ever actually had a claim go smoothly with either? Or is that just insurance folklore?
- Geico’s app is fine until you actually need a human—then it’s back to the hold music marathon.
- Progressive quoted me more than my car’s worth, which is saying something since it’s a minivan with goldfish crackers in every crevice.
- Had one claim with Geico after a fender bender. Took forever, but they did pay out eventually. Not exactly “smooth,” but at least it wasn’t a total nightmare.
- Honestly, I just want someone to answer the phone before my coffee gets cold. Is that too much to ask?

I feel this so much. I’ve had both, and honestly, the hold times are brutal with Geico, but Progressive’s quote was just wild for our family van. Have you tried calling at weird hours? Sometimes early mornings are better.
