Geico's generally solid in NY, especially if you're budget-conscious. Progressive can be competitive initially, but yeah, their renewals sometimes creep up—seen it happen a few times. One thing I'd suggest is running quotes with identical coverage limits side-by-side. Sometimes tweaking deductibles or coverage slightly can make a noticeable difference. Also, check if either offers discounts for bundling renters or homeowners insurance... might squeeze out a bit more savings.

I've been comparing these two myself lately, and honestly, Geico wasn't always cheaper for me. I ran quotes with identical coverage, and Progressive actually came out ahead by a decent bit—even factoring in bundling discounts. Maybe it's because I'm a first-time buyer or something? Also noticed Geico's online quote system was a bit glitchy when adjusting deductibles... not sure if that's just me. Either way, I'd say don't assume Geico's always the budget pick—definitely worth double-checking your numbers.

- Had a similar experience myself—Geico wasn't automatically cheaper, especially with my classic Mustang.
- Progressive actually gave me a better deal when I factored in agreed-value coverage.
- Geico's site definitely has quirks... adjusting deductibles was buggy for me too, thought it was just my old laptop acting up.
- Bottom line: always run quotes individually, especially if your situation isn't cookie-cutter.

Interesting, never really considered agreed-value coverage before... Does it make sense for a typical family car though, or is it mostly beneficial for classics and specialty vehicles? I ran into similar issues with Geico's site—thought it was just me being impatient. Has anyone found Progressive's online tools smoother, or are they equally glitchy? Curious if usability factors into your decision as much as pricing.

I get the appeal of agreed-value coverage, but honestly, for a regular family car, it might be overkill. Unless you've done some serious mods or upgrades, standard coverage usually does the trick. As someone who's had a few tickets (okay, maybe more than a few...), Progressive's online tools felt smoother to me—Geico's site kept glitching out when I tried tweaking my deductible. Pricing matters most, sure, but usability definitely counts when you're constantly adjusting coverage to keep premiums manageable.
