Just saw a news story about a guy in Brooklyn whose parked car got sideswiped overnight. He didn't have collision coverage, and now he's stuck footing the whole repair bill himself. Made me think twice about my own insurance...I mean, premiums here are already crazy high, you know? But then again, stuff like this happens all the time in the city. Curious if most of you guys think collision coverage is worth the extra cost or if it's just another way insurance companies squeeze us dry.

Collision coverage can definitely feel like a tough call, especially in NYC where premiums are already sky-high. But honestly, given how common hit-and-runs and sideswipes are around here, it might be worth reconsidering. I've seen plenty of cases where people without collision end up paying thousands out-of-pocket for repairs, and it's always rough seeing that happen.

One thing to think about is your car's valueβ€”if it's older and not worth much, collision might not make sense financially. But if your car still has decent value, collision coverage can save you from a huge headache down the line. Have you checked what the difference in premium would actually be? Sometimes it's less than you'd expect, especially if you adjust your deductible a bit higher.

I get the frustration though...insurance companies aren't exactly known for generosity, lol. Still, in a city like ours, it might be worth the peace of mind.
