I swear, dealing with insurance companies is like playing a game of telephone—by the time your request gets to the right person, it’s completely different from what you started with. I’m with you on keeping receipts and screenshots for everything. I even keep a little folder in my glove box with printouts of my policy details, just in case someone tries to pull the “not in our system” card at the worst possible moment.

Honestly, I don’t trust verbal promises at all anymore. If it’s not in writing, it basically doesn’t exist as far as I’m concerned. Maybe that sounds paranoid, but after getting burned once when they “forgot” to add accident forgiveness (even though I’d asked twice), I learned my lesson. It’s wild how much responsibility falls on us just to make sure we’re actually covered for what we paid for.

I wish there was a universal checklist or something that forced everyone to be on the same page, but until then... guess it’s spreadsheets and screenshots for the win.

Man, I totally get where you’re coming from. After my last renewal, I found out they’d “forgotten” to apply the multi-car discount even though I’d confirmed it twice over the phone. Had to dig up old emails and policy docs just to prove my point. It’s wild how much legwork falls on us just to keep things straight. Your glove box folder idea is genius—I might steal that one. Honestly, if you’re not double-checking everything, you’re just asking for a headache down the line.

You nailed it—sometimes it feels like you need a spreadsheet just to track what you’re actually getting. I’ve had to call them out on “missing” discounts too, and it’s always on us to catch it. That glove box folder trick is underrated, honestly. It’s a pain, but worth it if it saves you a few hundred bucks.

I keep all my docs in the glove box too—insurance cards, receipts, random notes about what I’ve called them for. It’s saved me more than once when they “forgot” a discount or tried to up my rate. Not sure why it’s so hard for them to keep track, but yeah, staying organized pays off.

Honestly, I get the point about keeping everything in the glove box, but I’m not a fan. Here’s why:

- If your car gets broken into, all your personal info is right there.
- Paper gets lost or trashed fast, especially if you’re in and out of the car a lot.
-

“It’s saved me more than once when they ‘forgot’ a discount or tried to up my rate.”
—I just scan everything into Google Drive. Way easier to search and no risk of losing stuff.

Just feels safer and less cluttered for me. But hey, whatever works.
