Yeah, windshield claims usually fall under comprehensive coverage, which most insurers treat as "no-fault" incidents. They get it—those gravel trucks have a personal vendetta against all of us, haha. But once there's an actual collision claim, even minor, that's when they start paying more attention. Insurers see accidents as indicators of riskier driving habits or potential future claims...fair or not.

On a brighter note, glad you scored a good deal with your military ID! I've seen clients get some pretty sweet discounts through military affiliations—always nice when insurers recognize service with something tangible like lower premiums.

Good points on the windshield claims—had a rock chip last year and my insurer didn't even blink. But yeah, once you tap another car, even lightly, they suddenly get suspicious. Glad you snagged that military discount though...nice to see insurers rewarding service members with something practical like lower rates. Keep driving safe and watch out for those gravel trucks—they're relentless.

Yeah, insurers definitely get cautious fast—but can we really blame them? Even minor fender benders can hide sneaky frame or alignment issues that pop up later. I've seen a friend tap a bumper lightly, thought nothing of it, and weeks later the other driver claimed serious damage underneath. Makes me wonder if insurers are overly suspicious or just realistically cautious... Also, military discounts are great, but shouldn't safe driving records count more in the long run?

Had a similar experience myself last year. My wife was backing out of a tight parking spot at the grocery store and barely tapped another car's bumper—no visible damage, just a tiny scuff mark. We exchanged info just to be safe, but figured it was nothing. Well, two weeks later, the other driver claimed there was internal damage and alignment issues. Honestly, I was skeptical at first, thought maybe they were exaggerating... but turns out the mechanic confirmed some hidden bumper clips had snapped. Ended up costing way more than expected.

So yeah, insurers being cautious makes sense to me. But I agree with you on the safe driving record thing. Military discounts are nice perks, sure, but rewarding consistently safe drivers seems like it'd benefit everyone long-term. After all, isn't that what insurance is supposed to encourage—fewer accidents overall?

Yeah, been there myself. Sometimes what looks like nothing ends up being surprisingly expensive. Glad it worked out for you though—insurance quirks aside, sounds like you handled it well.
