Yeah, insurance companies aren't exactly known for making exclusions obvious—usually buried somewhere in the fine print. When I added a rider for my '68 Mustang (after a buddy's horror story about flood damage), it bumped my premium up by maybe 10-15%. Not cheap, but worth it for peace of mind. I'd say just ask your agent directly; sometimes they're surprisingly upfront if you push a bit.

My agent actually walked me through step-by-step, explaining exactly what was covered and what wasn't—hail, floods, vandalism, you name it. Took maybe 15 minutes tops, and I felt way better afterward. Premium went up slightly, but honestly, knowing exactly what's covered (and what's not) is worth every penny. Better safe than sorry, especially with older cars like yours.

I get your point about peace of mind, but honestly, constantly upping premiums isn't always worth it. For family cars especially, sometimes it's smarter to set aside a rainy-day fund instead of paying extra every renewal... just my two cents.

I totally get the logic behind setting aside a rainy-day fund instead of bumping premiums, but speaking as someone who's had their fair share of "oops" moments on the road (let's just say my insurance company knows me by name...), comprehensive coverage has saved my bacon more than once. Sure, it stings at renewal time, but when hail—or worse—hits, knowing you're covered can really ease that sinking feeling in your stomach. Guess it depends how lucky you feel!
