I swear, mine thought I was in a demolition derby every time I hit a pothole or braked for a squirrel.

You nailed it—those apps just don’t get real-world driving. I’ve got a ‘72 Chevelle and the thing rides like a boat, so every bump gets flagged. Honestly, I’d rather pay a few bucks more than have my phone judge my every move. The “discount” isn’t worth the hassle if you ask me.

Man, those driving apps are a trip. I tried one for a month—figured I’d save a little, but my old Corolla just isn’t made for “smooth acceleration” or whatever their algorithm thinks is normal. Hit a pothole and it’s like I’ve committed some crime. At this point, I’m with you: I’ll pay the extra $10 a month to not have my phone nag me about every Kansas backroad. Guess being over 65 just means we get to laugh at this stuff now, right?

Honestly, I’m starting to think those apps are rigged against anyone driving something older than 2015. My instructor keeps telling me “drive like there’s an egg under the pedal,” but if you’re dodging potholes or tractors out here, good luck. The app docked me for “hard braking” when a deer jumped out—what was I supposed to do, just hit it? Feels like they want robots, not drivers. Maybe the extra $10 is worth my sanity...

- These apps don’t get rural driving at all. My ‘03 Crown Vic doesn’t even have half the sensors they want.
- “Drive like there’s an egg under the pedal”—sure, until a combine pulls out of a field.
- I’d rather pay a bit more than let some phone judge my driving.
- Anyone actually had luck with these apps on older cars, or is it just newer models that get a fair shake?

Yeah, those apps just don’t get it—rural driving’s a whole different ballgame. I’ve had the same issue with sudden stops and animals. Honestly, I’d rather take the hit on premiums than risk my safety or sanity. Not sure these things are fair to older cars either.
