But I’ll admit, once you hit 65, it’s like the system just assumes you’re suddenly a risk, no matter your actual record.

That’s the part that really gets me. I’ve been driving for decades without a single claim, but my rates still jumped after 65. Tried one of those telematics things—ended up feeling like I was being watched for nothing. Honestly, the smaller local companies do seem to care a bit more, but even then, it’s hit or miss. Sometimes I wonder if all this “data” is just an excuse to hike prices.

Right? Those gadgets make me more nervous than parallel parking on a busy street. I get that they want “data,” but how much info do they need to see I’m not drag racing? Sometimes I think the only thing going up faster than my age is my premium... Ever wonder if they just spin a wheel and pick a number?

- I get the privacy worry, but honestly, my premium dropped a bit after I tried telematics.
- Didn’t love the “big brother” feel, but for a few months of driving like a grandma, saved enough to buy new wiper blades.
- Not for everyone, but if you’re careful on the road anyway, it might be worth a shot—even if it feels weird at first.
- Still think nothing beats calling around old-school and asking about classic car discounts... some agents still have a soft spot for us.
