I get where you’re coming from, but honestly, I’ve always gone for the higher deductible. With three kids and a minivan, every dollar counts. Yeah, it’s a risk, but if you drive carefully and park smart, sometimes it pays off. Maybe I’m just stubborn, but I’d rather save month to month than stress about “what ifs.”

I totally get wanting to save every month—kids eat up the budget faster than the gas tank, right? But have you ever had one of those random “how did THAT happen?” fender benders in a parking lot? I swear, my youngest once opened the door into a shopping cart and it left a dent. Made me rethink that high deductible for a bit. Do you ever worry about those little surprises, or do you just roll with it and hope for the best?

Man, I hear you. My kids treat the minivan like it’s a bumper car at the fair. Last summer, we took a road trip, and my son managed to drop a can of soda in the backseat—sticky residue everywhere, and then he slammed the door into a mailbox at our motel. I thought about that high deductible real hard while staring at the dent. I like saving money, but honestly, with the way my crew operates, I need that lower deductible just for my sanity. Those “how did THAT happen?” moments are practically scheduled around here.

Man, I totally get it. With kids, you never know what’s coming next—mine once managed to crack a taillight with a soccer ball in the driveway. I’ve crunched the numbers a few times, but honestly, peace of mind with a lower deductible is worth the extra bucks for me too.

I hear you on the peace of mind front. My youngest once used my S-Class hood ornament as a goalpost—needless to say, that repair wasn’t cheap. I used to think a higher deductible made sense since I drive carefully and park away from carts, but kids have a way of finding trouble. Do you ever wonder if the extra cost for a lower deductible is justified long-term, or do you just chalk it up to “life happens”?
