Honestly, I used to think the same—like, why pay extra when I already have health insurance? But after my cousin got hit with a $900 ambulance bill (and her regular insurance barely covered it), I’m starting to see the point. Those “little” gaps add up fast.

That’s exactly what made me rethink it too. I used to roll my eyes at the extra cost, but after seeing a friend get stuck with a fat ER bill after a fender bender, it’s hard to ignore. Even if you’re a careful driver, you can’t control what other people do on the road. Sometimes it’s not even about the big crashes—just a quick trip to urgent care or an ambulance ride can drain your wallet way faster than you’d expect.

I get that some folks feel like it’s overkill, but honestly, peace of mind is worth a few extra bucks a month for me. I’d rather pay a little now than be stressed about bills later, especially with how unpredictable medical costs are. It’s not just about you, either—if you’ve got passengers or family riding with you, that extra coverage can really help out in a pinch. Just my two cents... I’d rather be safe than sorry.

I hear you on the unpredictability of medical bills. One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that even with decent health insurance, there are always gaps—deductibles, copays, stuff that just isn’t covered. That extra bit of auto medical coverage can fill in those gaps, especially if you’re in a state where PIP isn’t mandatory. I used to think it was redundant, but after my neighbor’s minor accident turned into a months-long billing headache, I started looking at it differently. It’s not just about big crashes—sometimes it’s the little things that add up fast.

That’s a really good point about the “little things” adding up. I keep wondering—if you’ve got a high-end car, does that make it more likely you’ll need extra medical coverage, or is it more about your health insurance situation? Sometimes I feel like I’m paying for overlap, but then again, what if my insurance decides something isn’t “medically necessary”? Have you ever had a claim denied for something you thought was covered?

I get where you’re coming from—my health insurance is decent, but I’ve still had to argue with them over what counts as “necessary.” Once, after a fender bender, my ER bill got split between auto and health insurance, and neither wanted to pay for a follow-up scan. Super frustrating. I’m not convinced having a pricier car changes much unless it’s about liability rather than medical. Has anyone actually seen their auto med coverage kick in when health insurance fell short?
