I recently used one of those online calculators to figure out what my injury claim might be worth. Um, it gave me a number that seemed pretty fair, but then when I talked to the insurance company, they came back with a way lower offer. Felt kinda like haggling at a flea market or something, lol. Wondering if anyone else has tried these calculators and how accurate they turned out to be in reality?

I tried one of those calculators a while back after a minor accident during a road trip (long story involving a deer and my beloved cooler, RIP). Anyway, the calculator gave me this number that seemed pretty decent, but the insurance company's first offer was honestly laughable—felt like they were trying to trade me beads for gold. After some back-and-forth though, we settled somewhere closer to the calculator's estimate. So, they're not perfect, but they at least give you a ballpark to aim for when negotiating.

Haha, your cooler story hits home—I once had a run-in with a rogue shopping cart that left my bumper looking like abstract art. Insurance tried the same lowball dance, but persistence pays off eventually... Glad you stuck it out and got closer to fair value.
