Do occasional supply runs change a car’s stated use?
If a personal car makes occasional trips to pick up lumber, paint, or other renovation supplies, should those miles simply be included in the annual mileage estimate? Do insurers also ask whether the car is used for business, and how do they distinguish an occasional personal errand from regular paid deliveries?
I’m also curious whether adding racks or other carrying modifications can affect the vehicle’s rating or eligibility, even if the trips are personal. The application wording seems like the key, but what terms or questions should a commuter pay particular attention to?

“Business use” is worth reading in context: insurers may ask about the purpose and regularity of trips, not just what’s in the car. Picking up supplies for your own home is different from making regular paid deliveries, but the policy wording controls. And a rack or other modification may affect rating or eligibility if it changes the vehicle from its stated configuration, so answer those questions specifically rather than assuming personal trips make it irrelevant.
