Last night I was parked outside this little taco place downtown (you know, the one with the neon cactus sign), just grabbing a quick bite. Came out maybe 20 mins later and bam, there's this nasty dent on my rear bumper. No note, no witnesses, nothing. Just me standing there feeling kinda dumb and annoyed.
Anyway, it got me thinking...what if this happened in a weird situation? Like imagine someone parked their car outside a haunted house attraction or something. They come out after being scared half to death by actors dressed as zombies or whatever, only to find their car mysteriously damaged. No witnesses except maybe some sketchy-looking clown smoking nearby who swears he saw nothing (or did he?). And then they gotta deal with insurance and explain the whole thing to an agent who thinks they're pulling a prank.
Could be funny or creepy or both. Curious how you'd spin this scenario into something interesting...
Had something similar happen at a drive-in theater once—came back from grabbing popcorn and found my side mirror dangling. No zombies or creepy clowns, but explaining that to insurance was still a headache. Ever thought about dash cams for stuff like this?
Dash cams are definitely worth considering, especially for situations like yours. Insurance claims can get complicated without clear evidence, and having footage could simplify things significantly. I haven't personally installed one yet—still researching the best models—but from what I've read, even basic ones can capture enough detail to identify culprits or at least prove you're not at fault. Sorry to hear about your side mirror situation; car damage is always frustrating, especially when someone just takes off without owning up. Hope your insurance comes through smoothly.

Ugh, been there... came out of the grocery store once to find a lovely new dent and zero notes. Dash cam's on my wishlist now—insurance headaches aren't worth it. Hang in there!
Dash cams are handy, but honestly, even with footage, it's still a hassle. Had someone back into my car at a coffee shop—caught the whole thing on camera, license plate and all. Think that made insurance any easier? Nope, still had to jump through hoops. But at least it felt good knowing who did it. Anyway, don't beat yourself up over it... cars can be fixed, sanity's harder to repair.
