Local agents can be great, but honestly, I've found better luck with online comparison tools. They cut through the sales pitch and show straight numbers...saved me a chunk last renewal. Might be worth double-checking before committing locally.

I've tried comparison tools too, and yeah, they're helpful for quick numbers. But have you found they accurately factor in high-risk specifics like tickets or claims history? Last time I checked online, the initial quotes looked great, but once I plugged in my actual driving record, the prices jumped significantly. Ended up calling a local agent anyway to clarify some details... Have you experienced similar discrepancies, or maybe found a site that's better at handling high-risk profiles?

Yeah, that's exactly why I stopped trusting those comparison sites for anything beyond a ballpark estimate. They're decent for clean records, but once you have tickets or claims, it's like they suddenly forget how math works. Honestly, talking directly to an agent has saved me more headaches (and cash) than any website ever did...

You're right about comparison sites—they're useful as a starting point, but definitely limited once your driving record isn't spotless. A lot of these sites use generalized algorithms that don't fully factor in individual circumstances, especially if you're labeled "high-risk." Talking directly to an agent can help because they have more flexibility in tailoring policies and often know which insurers are more forgiving towards tickets or claims. It takes some patience, but usually pays off once you find the right fit...

I agree that agents can offer more personalized options, but I'm curious—does anyone know if completing a defensive driving course actually helps lower premiums significantly in Hawaii? I've heard mixed things... some say it's worth the effort, others claim insurers barely factor it in once you're already labeled high-risk. Would be interesting to hear if anyone's had firsthand experience with this.
