- Had a similar situation myself, didn't report it either... no harm, no foul, right?
- But yeah, insurance companies seem pretty mysterious about rate hikes.
- Maybe they flag you as "accident-prone" just for calling in, even if nothing happens? Seems unfair tbh.
Insurance companies can indeed be cautious—sometimes overly so—but they're usually not out to penalize you unfairly. From experience, minor incidents without claims typically don't affect your rates directly. Still, it's wise to document everything privately (photos, notes...) just in case something unexpected pops up later. Better safe than sorry, right? But yeah, totally understand the hesitation—no one wants to be labeled "accident-prone" over a tiny bump.

Yeah, totally agree with this. Had a similar thing happen last year—barely tapped someone's bumper, zero visible damage. I snapped a couple quick pics anyway. Nothing came of it, but having that peace of mind definitely helped me sleep easier...
Yeah, totally agree with this.
Yeah, good call on the pics. I'm still learning all this stuff—so if there's no visible damage, is it even worth mentioning to insurance? Or does that just complicate things unnecessarily...?
It's a tricky call, honestly. I've had similar situations with my classic Mustang—no visible damage at first glance, but later found some alignment issues. Probably safest to at least document it, even if you don't formally file a claim yet... just to cover your bases.
