bumped someone's car lightly, no visible damage—should I report?

Did the same thing once backing out of a tight spot on a road trip—didn't see any marks either, but spent the next hour worrying if I'd messed up someone's sensors or alignment. Nothing ever came of it, thankfully. Do you think you'd feel better reporting it anyway, just for peace of mind? Either way, it's probably fine, but I totally get the anxiety... these little bumps happen more often than we realize.

Honestly, if there's genuinely no visible damage, reporting might just complicate things unnecessarily. Most modern cars can handle minor bumps without sensor issues—manufacturers design them knowing these little taps happen. I've seen plenty of claims come through where people worried about alignment or sensors, but usually, if there's no visible damage or immediate warning lights, you're probably good. Totally understand the anxiety though... been there myself!

I agree with the general sentiment here—reporting minor bumps with zero visible damage can often lead to more hassle than it's worth. Not only might it complicate things with insurance, but in some cases, it could even unnecessarily raise your premium. I had a similar incident last summer during a road trip; lightly tapped another car's bumper in a crowded parking lot. No scratches, dents, or sensor warnings, but I still worried about it for days. Eventually, nothing came of it, and both vehicles were perfectly fine.

That said, it's always good to quickly document the situation just in case. Snapping a few clear photos of the area you bumped and noting down the date and location can save headaches if someone tries to claim damage later on. Cars these days are pretty resilient to minor impacts, thankfully, but a little precaution never hurts.

I get your point, but isn't there a risk that some internal damage might not be immediately visible? Modern bumpers can hide issues underneath—like sensor misalignment or clips breaking. I'd probably err on the side of caution and at least exchange info...just in case.

Good point—modern bumpers are pretty sneaky that way. I've seen cases where sensor issues only popped up days after a minor bump. Curious if anyone here's dealt with delayed damage claims before...how'd that turn out?
