Last week someone keyed the side of my parked car overnight... no clue who or why. Luckily, my Farmers insurance covered the whole thing without hassle. Anyone else had to deal with random vandalism like this?

Glad your insurance sorted it out smoothly, that's always a relief. But honestly, even with full coverage, I'd still feel uneasy about parking in the same spot again. Had something similar happen to me last year—someone smashed my side mirror overnight. Insurance handled it fine, but after that I installed a cheap dashcam with a parking mode. It hasn't caught anyone yet (thankfully nothing else has happened), but it gives me peace of mind knowing I have some sort of record if something does go down again. Might be worth considering if you're worried about repeat incidents...

I get the dashcam thing, but honestly, I'm not convinced they're always worth it. Had one for a while and it drained my battery twice because the parking mode kept kicking in unnecessarily. Plus, even when something did happen, the footage was too grainy to make out license plates clearly. I ended up just being extra picky about where I park—well-lit areas, near cameras if possible—and haven't had issues since. Guess it depends on your situation though...

Yeah, I see your point about the dashcam battery drain issue. I've been thinking about getting one myself, but now I'm kinda second-guessing it. Did you try one of those battery saver kits or whatever they're called? Heard they help prevent the battery from dying, but not sure how effective they actually are. Honestly, just parking near store cameras or under streetlights seems simpler and cheaper...
