Haha, that's oddly relatable. My dashcam once caught a perfect sunset reflection on my windshield but completely missed the truck backing into me at the grocery store.

"Maybe insurers secretly appreciate artistic flair...?"

Honestly, might be onto something there. Anyone found dashcams actually lowering their premiums here in Delaware...? Curious if it's worth mentioning during renewal.

Funny you mention dashcams affecting insurance premiums—I actually just went through this. I'm a first-time insurance buyer here in Delaware, and when I was shopping around, I asked a couple of companies if having a dashcam would lower my rates. Most gave me the standard "it depends" line, but one rep did mention that while there's no official discount for dashcams (at least not yet), they can be super helpful in claims disputes.

So far, mine hasn't directly lowered my premium, but it did help a friend of mine prove he wasn't at fault when someone backed into him at Wawa. Saved him from a rate hike at renewal. So even if there's no upfront discount, having solid proof can indirectly save you money down the line...might be worth mentioning to your insurer anyway.

I was pretty skeptical about dashcams too—figured it was just another gadget to clutter my windshield. But last summer, a buddy and I were road-tripping through Virginia when someone sideswiped us at a rest stop. No witnesses, no security cameras, nothing. Luckily, his dashcam caught the whole thing. Didn't lower his premium directly, but it saved him from a nasty rate hike. So yeah, might not be a direct discount, but having video proof can definitely pay off in the long run...

Haha, exactly my thought at first. But then I remembered how I once spent 20 mins arguing with a guy who backed into me at Wawa... suddenly a dashcam doesn't seem so cluttery anymore.

Yeah, that's pretty much spot-on. I used to think dashcams were just another gimmicky gadget too, until last summer when some lady sideswiped me outside the Christiana Mall. She was nice enough at first, but once the cops showed up, her story changed real quick. Suddenly it was my fault, and she had "witnesses" who conveniently disappeared before anyone could talk to them. Long story short, insurance dragged their feet for weeks trying to sort out whose story checked out.

After that mess, I installed a dashcam—took maybe 15 minutes tops—and honestly, it's been peace of mind ever since. No more he-said-she-said nonsense. If you're looking for insurance hacks or hidden gems in Delaware, I'd say getting a dashcam is probably one of the simplest ways to avoid headaches down the road.
