Plastic sleeve in the glovebox is classic, but I’m paranoid I’ll forget to swap it out when my policy renews. My luck, I’d hand over an expired card and look like a total rookie. Digital’s sketchy, but at least it updates itself... usually.

I totally get that. I literally taped a sticky note to my steering wheel last time my policy was up for renewal, just so I wouldn’t forget. Still almost handed over the old one at a checkpoint... guess my nerves got the best of me. Digital’s cool, but my phone battery’s always dying at the worst times.

Honestly, I see people get tripped up by expired cards all the time. Sticky notes help, but they’re easy to ignore after a while. I’ve seen some folks just set a calendar reminder on their phone for renewal dates—less chance of missing it, unless you’re like me and swipe away notifications without reading them.

You mentioned digital, but if your phone’s always dead, that’s not much use. Ever thought about just keeping a backup paper copy in your wallet? Not the most high-tech, but it works if you’re worried about the glovebox version being out of date. Curious—do you keep any other docs in the car, or just the insurance stuff? Some people go overboard and stash everything, others barely have the basics.

- I’m all about the paper backup—cheap, easy, and you don’t need to worry about your phone dying or apps glitching.
- I keep just the basics in my glovebox: insurance, registration, and a copy of my license (learned that one after getting pulled over without it once).
- Some folks keep maintenance logs or receipts in there, but honestly, that just clutters things up for me.
- Anyone ever had issues with cops not accepting a digital card? I’ve heard mixed stories...

Paper backup’s saved me more than once, especially with older cars where tech can be finicky. I’ve had a cop side-eye my phone once—he eventually took it, but you could tell he wasn’t thrilled. Keeping a tidy glovebox just makes life easier, honestly.
