I ran into that mileage tracking issue myself when I switched to a classic policy for my old Mustang. At first, I thought it'd be no big dealβ€”I mean, I mostly just cruise around town and occasionally hit up a local car show. But then I took a spontaneous road trip with some friends, and halfway through, I remembered the mileage cap. Spent the rest of the trip mentally calculating how close I was to the limit... not exactly relaxing.

When renewal time rolled around, they didn't grill me too hard about it, but they did ask for an odometer reading and a few recent photos. I got the feeling they're mostly checking for obvious abuse or daily-driver usage rather than strictly policing every mile. Still, it left me feeling a bit uneasy. If you're someone who likes spontaneous weekend drives or longer road trips, definitely factor that into your decision.

Yeah, that's why I ended up sticking with regular insurance even though I qualify for classic. I'd hate worrying about mileage caps on road trips. Did you find the savings worth the stress?

Completely agreeβ€”road trips should be about enjoying the journey, not counting miles. I've considered classic insurance myself, but the mileage restrictions always put me off. Have you looked into any providers that offer flexible mileage options?

Mileage caps can definitely be a buzzkill on road trips. I remember taking my old Mustang out for a weekend cruise, thinking I'd easily stay under the limit... then ended up detouring to some random car show I stumbled across. Next thing I knew, I was sweating bullets over the odometer reading. Have you checked out providers that let you bump up mileage temporarily for special trips? Might save you from the odometer anxiety I had, haha.

Mileage caps definitely sound stressful, but honestly, I've never run into that issue myself. My old family wagon isn't exactly a showstopper, so spontaneous detours to car shows aren't really in the cards for me, haha. Still, I can see how that'd be a headache if you're into vintage rides and events.

I've heard about those temporary mileage bumps too, but I'm always skeptical about hidden fees or fine print. Have you (or anyone else) actually tried one of those temporary mileage increases? Curious if they're straightforward or if it's one of those things where you end up paying more than expected. I mean, insurance companies aren't exactly known for being generous without a catch...
