Had a similar situation a few years back with my '72 Camaro. Honestly, having an appraisal saved my butt big-time. Insurance adjuster initially tried to lowball me (surprise, surprise...), but once I showed them the professional appraisal, their tune changed pretty quick. It didn't magically solve everythingβ€”there was still some back-and-forthβ€”but it definitely gave me solid ground to stand on. I'd recommend getting one done, just for peace of mind if nothing else.

Haha, as an insurance agent myself, I can confirmβ€”we're not all villains, but adjusters aren't exactly known for their generosity. A proper appraisal is definitely your ace card when things get sticky. Worth every penny, trust me.

Totally agree on the appraisalβ€”saved my bacon once when an adjuster tried to undervalue my '68 Jag. Adjusters aren't evil, just doing their job...but a solid appraisal keeps everyone honest. Worth the hassle every time.

I get the appraisal logic, but honestly, aren't agreed-value policies simpler? Had one on my '72 Alfa and skipped the whole appraisal dance...never had an issue when I needed a claim. Maybe worth considering?

Agreed-value does sound simpler...but do you think it makes sense for a daily driver? Had an older BMW a while back, and I remember the agent suggesting agreed-value was better suited for weekend cruisers. Maybe depends how often you're driving it?
