Good points on insurance and mechanical condition, but I've found that appearance can sometimes matter more than you'd think. A few years back, my classic Jaguar had faded paint from city parking restrictions forcing outdoor storage—got flagged by a neighbor as an "abandoned vehicle." Took weeks of paperwork and photos to sort it out. Now I always keep a cover handy just to avoid hassles. City rules might seem trivial, but trust me, they're a headache when you least expect it...

Haha, totally feel your pain on this one. Had a similar issue with my old Mustang—paint was fine, but the tires looked a bit flat after sitting for a while. Neighbor thought it was abandoned too...guess classic cars just scream "please report me" to some folks. Now I check tire pressure religiously to avoid unwanted city attention. Curious though, anyone else had trouble with overly picky neighbors flagging their rides?

I get what you're saying, but honestly, neighbors aren't always the issue. Sometimes it's just city inspectors cruising around looking for easy tickets. Had a buddy whose Camaro got flagged because the cover blew off during a storm and it looked "unsightly" for a few days. He ended up getting fined even though the car was perfectly functional underneath—talk about frustrating.

That's smart, but have you considered just keeping it garaged or covered? A decent car cover isn't too pricey and can save you a lot of hassle down the line. Plus, it helps protect your paint and interior from weather damage, which could save you money on upkeep in the long run. Seems like a practical investment if you're worried about picky neighbors or city rules getting stricter.

Yeah, covers are definitely handy, but they're not always foolproof. Had a client whose cover got shredded in a hailstorm, and the city still gave him grief over it. Honestly, if you've got garage space, that's probably your safest bet—plus, insurance-wise, garaging your car usually helps lower your premium a bit. Might as well save some cash while keeping the inspectors happy, right?

True, garages are ideal, but not everyone has that luxury. I've been using one of those heavy-duty covers for my Mustang parked outside, and so far it's held up okay—even through some nasty storms. But I do worry about the city's new rules being overly strict. Maybe instead of penalizing people, they should offer clearer guidelines or even incentives for proper storage...just a thought.
