I’ve seen a few claims get denied just because the odometer didn’t match what was on the policy. It’s not always about intent, either—sometimes people just forget to update their mileage or lose track over the year. Insurers can be sticklers, especially with agreed value stuff. If you’re even a little over, they’ll use it as a reason to dig deeper. It’s frustrating, but I get why they do it... just wish there was a bit more flexibility for folks who actually take care of their cars.

That’s kinda wild to me—didn’t realize they’d be that strict about mileage. I was thinking about classic insurance for my old Mustang, but now I’m second guessing it. How do people even keep track if they don’t drive the car much? I’d probably forget too...

Yeah, the mileage cap thing threw me off at first too. I’ve got an older Benz and was worried I’d mess up and go over without realizing. Honestly, most classic policies just ask for a yearly odometer reading, so as long as you jot it down once in a while, you’re probably fine. If you only take it out on weekends or to shows, it’s actually harder to hit the limit than you’d think. Don’t let the mileage cap scare you off—just means you get to enjoy the car for special occasions.

I get where you’re coming from—when I first switched to a classic policy for my E-Type, the mileage cap sounded restrictive. But honestly, unless you’re using it as a daily driver, it’s rarely an issue. I just snap a photo of the odometer every few months and keep it in my phone. The premium savings are worth the minor hassle, at least in my experience.

I felt the same way at first—my 911 sits for most of the year, so I worried the cap would sneak up on me. Turns out, I barely hit half the limit even with a few spirited weekend runs and a couple of shows. I keep a small notepad in the glovebox to jot down mileage at each outing, just in case. The savings really do add up, and there's a bit of peace of mind knowing I'm not overpaying for coverage I don't need. Honestly, unless you're planning some epic road trips, it's pretty manageable.
