Good points overall, but honestly I'm still a bit skeptical about freezing credit... sounds like a hassle. Still, after hearing your story, maybe it's worth the inconvenience. Might give it a shot and see how it goes. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Totally get why you're hesitant—freezing credit can feel like a bit of a headache at first. Have you looked into how easy it is to temporarily lift the freeze when you actually need credit? Most bureaus let you do it online in just a few minutes, so it's not as much of a hassle as it used to be.

I had a client who went through something similar last year. At first, he was pretty reluctant too... but after someone opened a credit card in his name, he decided to freeze his credit. He told me later it gave him peace of mind knowing no one could easily mess with his finances again. I mean, it's not foolproof, but it definitely adds an extra layer of protection.

Have you thought about checking your credit reports regularly too? Even just a quick glance every few months can help catch anything weird early on. Anyway, glad you're considering it—hope it works out smoothly for you.

That's true, but honestly, I've found the process isn't always as smooth as advertised. Last time I tried lifting mine temporarily, one bureau's site was glitchy and I ended up having to call customer service—definitely took longer than a few minutes. Regularly checking your credit report is solid advice though; catching issues early can make a huge difference.

Yeah, I've had similar experiences with the online systems being glitchy—especially when you're already stressed about fraud stuff. A couple tips that've helped me:

- Try accessing the bureau's site during off-peak hours (late evening or early morning). Seems less glitchy then.
- Clear your browser cache or switch browsers if the site's acting weird.
- Keep their customer service number handy just in case... saves you from scrambling if things go sideways.

Hope things get sorted quickly for you!

Good tips, though honestly, I've found calling customer service can sometimes be even more frustrating than the glitchy websites... endless hold music, anyone? Curious—has anyone actually had better luck resolving fraud issues over the phone versus online?
