Why can’t I use my points AND a coupon at checkout?

Yeah, I’ve run into that too—thought I’d finally cracked the code, but nope. It’s almost like they design those reward programs to be just complicated enough to trip us up. Reading the fine print is a pain, but it does help avoid that awkward checkout moment. Hang in there... sometimes the stars align and you actually get to use both.

- Couldn’t agree more. I swear, half the time I feel like I need a spreadsheet just to figure out if my points or coupons will actually work.
- Last month, tried stacking a promo code with my points on a car detailing kit—system just laughed at me. No dice.
- Fine print is brutal, but sometimes you get lucky... or maybe they just want us to give up and pay full price?
- Still, every now and then, it works out and feels like winning the lottery. Not holding my breath though.

Yeah, I’m with you on this one. Tried using both a coupon and my points on an oil change kit—website flat-out refused. Here’s how it usually goes for me: 1) Add stuff to cart. 2) Apply coupon, get excited. 3) Try to redeem points, system says “not eligible.” At this point, I just pick whichever gives me the bigger discount and call it a day. Sometimes I wonder if they do it on purpose or if it’s just bad design... Either way, it’s annoying.

Honestly, it feels like a game of “choose your own discount” every time I check out. I’ve run into the same wall—either points or coupon, never both. Makes me wonder if it’s some kind of corporate strategy to keep us from stacking deals, or maybe their checkout system just isn’t up to the task. Has anyone actually managed to stack both on accident, or is it always blocked? I’d love to hear if there’s a secret workaround I’m missing...

Right? It’s like one of those “pick a path” road maps, but instead of scenic detours I just get less money back. Has anyone ever actually gotten both to work, or is it always just a mirage? I tried once with a coupon code and my points—thought maybe if I hit the back button and reloaded, the system would get confused and let it slide. No dice.

Is this just how all rewards programs work, or have you seen any stores that let you double-dip? I’m starting to wonder if it’s a universal thing or just this particular company being stingy. Also, has anyone tried doing it in-store instead of online? Sometimes the cashiers have that “I’ll try anything once” attitude... maybe there’s hope at the register?
