Honestly, I think the paperwork circus isn’t just for luxury cars. My first fender bender was in a minivan that’s seen better days, and the insurance folks still wanted a full photo shoot—inside, outside, tire tread, you name it. I half-expected them to ask for a family portrait with the car.

I get what you mean about feeling like they’re dragging things out, but sometimes I wonder if it’s just bureaucracy gone wild rather than some plot to make us give up. Either way, it’s a headache. I do agree being organized helps, but even then, it feels like you need a PhD to fill out some of those forms.

At least after the first time, you know what hoops to jump through. Still, it’s wild that fixing a dent takes more paperwork than buying the car in the first place...

That made me laugh—feels so true. I just went through my first claim and was honestly surprised by how much detail they wanted, even for a tiny scrape. It’s weird how “being organized helps” but sometimes it still feels like you’re missing some secret code. At least after the first time, you do get a bit more confident about what to expect. It’s definitely not just you feeling overwhelmed.

Honestly, I totally get where you're coming from. The first time I had to deal with insurance after a fender bender, I was shocked by how many photos and forms they wanted. I remember thinking, “Do they want my grocery receipts too?” But yeah, being organized does help—just not as much as you'd hope. After that first round, I started keeping a folder with all my car docs and repair receipts, just in case. It’s a pain, but it does make the next time way less stressful. You’re definitely not alone in feeling like you’re missing some magic checklist.

Honestly, same. I got into a small scrape last year and was totally overwhelmed by the paperwork. I thought having my insurance card in the glovebox was enough, but nope... they wanted photos from every angle, a diagram, and even a statement. I kept second-guessing myself about what I was supposed to send.

Keeping a folder is smart, though. I tried using my phone to snap pics of everything, but then I couldn’t find half of them when I needed them. Maybe I’m just not organized enough, but it feels like there’s always some random detail they want that I missed. Does anyone else feel like the process is almost designed to trip you up? Or maybe I’m just paranoid. Either way, I definitely get why people say it’s stressful.

Yeah, it’s wild how much they want from you. I swear, after my second accident (yeah, not proud of that), I just started keeping a literal shoebox in my trunk for all the random stuff they might ask for. Still didn’t help much—one time they wanted a copy of the tow truck receipt and I had to dig through old emails for hours.

Honestly, I get what you mean about feeling like it’s set up to make you mess up. I’ve had adjusters ask for things I didn’t even know existed. Like, who actually draws a diagram on the spot? I just scribbled something on a napkin and hoped for the best.

Do you think it’s worse if you’ve had more than one accident? I feel like they start treating you like you’re trying to pull something, even when it’s just bad luck.
